Wish List Wednesday!

I have only one wish...

Two more weeks of vacation. This time with better weather.

And no. I don't count staying home with sick babies as vacation.

Tackle it Tuesday!

My least favorite part of vacation: unpacking, laundering and putting away all of the "stuff".

Maybe I have a magic wand somewhere...

Favorite Things Friday

Beer.

I like it. I Love it. I want some more of it. Well, within reason. And not any of that light crap either. I want to TASTE my beer thankyouverymuch.

My all-time favorite: Guinness

Current obsession: Old Rasputin Imperial Stout (or any Imperial Stout really)

Favorite Seasonal: Great Pumpkin from Flat Branch Brewery in Columbia MO

Go-To: Shiner Bock or Newcastle

First beer I ever drank: Killian's Irish Red (at a kegger on Wilson or Rosemary...naturally)

Favorite Things Friday

Fall is my favorite time of year, for a few reasons:

The clothes- break out everything cozy and warm, soft and snuggle-worthy:

The weather- cool crisp air, bright fire bursts of trees, the smell of fireplaces burning:

MU Football:

I look forward to images like this more than you can imagine.

I was married in the fall:

(I took all my wedding pics off the computer and this is the only thing I have *close* to it readily available...sorry honey- oh, Happy Anniversary!)

My boys were born in the fall:

Tackle it Tuesday!

Last week I tackled my unruly boxes of stuff to shred. I've made pretty decent progress- now if only I could figure out what to do with the stuff I need to KEEP!

This week...I'm going for cleaning up the entry way.

We live on the 1st floor of an up/down duplex built in 1902. Some days the charm of cherry wood mouldings, stained glass windows and a claw foot tub are greatly outweighed by the inconvenience of many doorways and odd hallways on top of very little storage space that are the mark of the older urban home. This of course makes it interesting trying to figure out where to put the things that you use and need, but not every day.

Our entry opens up into our Dining Room turned Baby Jail to the left and if you go straight about a foot there is another door that opens up into the Living Room. Because we can get to the Living Room directly through the Dining Room we keep this door closed and use this dead end space for storage.

The main problem we have in this area is trying to cram too much in a small space. We have a screen (albeit ugly) that hides it all, so we continue to throw even more back there and ignore it. It's all fine and dandy until one day you venture back to get the Kitchen-Aid Mixer and you are stumbling over a set of golf clubs and a stack of packing boxes...

My goal is to eliminate the clutter and get rid of the stuff that's just hanging around that has other homes (like the Little Green Clean Machine) so the space is usable in the way need it to be: a place to leave our coats and shoes and a place to store my beloved Kitchen-Aid Mixer, fancy dessert pans and decorative cake plates.

Wish me luck!
